I would first like to say that you will not find 30 LCDs in this car.  You will not find a DC to AC inverter.  You will not find an enormous wing on the trunk of this car.  You will only find my own set of fingerprints in this car.  I have not worked on this project all that much before these old pictures so you will see what a slob I am when I am at home and working hard.  I have made many changes and improvements since these pictures, but I do not have those pictures at this time.  All these pictures of the computer are taken during basic testing only.  I did not have the GPS Map CD installed during the GPS test, so no images are shown.  These pictures are only to prove one thing:  I had this project fully functional.  I am sticking with the Windows 2000 operating system.  Many people who do this use cheapo pre-programmed software.  I have the touch screen, remote, and voice recognition all for one reason...So I can use it!

So what if I have a laptop as the controller?  I'd rather use that then buy somebody else's system.  I designed this entire setup myself.  No thanks Best Buy.  I would rather not have water leaks in my roof.  I would rather not have 30 TVs.

The computer is a Dell Inspiron laptop.  I fabricated a nice internal and external cooling system for this.  I can control both the internal and external fans at any given time, read the RPMs of each fan, and also be warned when the internal CPU temperature and motherboard temperature reach  63ºC by a nice beep.  I purchased the LCD on eBay mainly because it was the only one that I could find with the certain dimensions that I needed.  As an added bonus, it included its own 12v regulator that has is rated at 9v to 18v DC input a "constant" 12v output at 1.5amps.  This was quickly swapped out for one of my own designs.

My trunk is cleaner now.  My soundcard is a Creative Labs SoundBlaster Audigy EX that is capable of controlling my complete stereo with its awesome engineering,  providing 7.1 Surround outputs when joined with a USB 2.0 interface.  The orange fan is in its first stage of testing.  I put it there to see what margin of difference it would make in the temperature of the internal components.  It has its own fiberglass housing and air duct that I made.  Now I have zero loss in air circulation.  I have upgraded from a USB 802.11b wireless adapter to a USB 802.11A/B/G card so I can download songs from my main computer right in my driveway.  It also works great with NetStumbler.  The Auxiliary antenna is wired to the stealthy rear defroster.  I am currently looking into EcuControl so I can monitor every aspect of the car's engine.  I opted to go with the serial configuration over the USB simply because I have an open serial port and the USB handles enough bandwidth.

Windows 2000 Professional Desktop.

Another Win2KPro Desktop with the temperature control showing.

My LCD fits perfectly flush where the original stereo was.

My GPS works great and refreshes my current speed every one tenth of a second.

My Hard Drive is housed inside a Jensen CD Changer.

The System Information may look weak but again this was just for testing.

The Trunk is a complete mess.

Here is my front Setup.

My "Stealthy" USB and Temperature controls mounted in my glove box.  I disconnected one fan before this picture.

What it looks like during simple operation.

And what I had in the trunk.  I loved this amp.  You will NEVER see this amp at Best Buy.  I would have put this amp up against anything.  I regret it every day.  Thanks Karen.  I regret that too.  Anyway, this amp was simply too damn powerful.  Think about it...Who really wants to sell these outrageous things so little punk kids shake the town all night?  That is why these places only sell low-end electronics.  And no kid is going to spend $1400 for an amplifier that is worth $1000 more than his Honda.  I sold the amp a couple years ago.  It was an Audiobahn A18001D.  The amps on the sides are Audiobahn A235HCTs that powered my 6.5" speakers.

Now I have a couple pictures of the exterior.  The exterior is not my main concern.  Too many kids have these damn things that sound like el-crapo and look like smiley faces.  If you look closely, I have those rare (in my area anyway) angel eye projector headlights.  My antenna is brand new and designed for a VW Jedi.  I figured since I would never drive this in the rain then I would never need the rear wiper or squirter.  The new fenders are molded into the new front bumper with fiberglass but not in this picture. And most of the stupid "real fast" (yea right; I bought it like that) blue stripes are gone. Soon they all will be. The advertisements look OK, but they are still going. This car will be one solid color. Nothing flashy, nothing saying "pull me over" and nothing saying "I think my Honda is fast so I put stickers on it."  The spoiler was the first thing to go when this project started.  Whoever did this car spent absolutely no time on the body.  Bondo here, there, and everywhere.  All gone now.  I do body work the right way.  The more I worked on the body, the more I started thinking that this car was a High School shop class project.  The front end did look nice though.  I have never seen anything like it before.  A couple are popping up, but not many.
